Original painting 36” x 48” oil on canvas - SOLD

Original painting based on the expedition to the Mackenzie Mountains in the southeastern Yukon, which I visited on many occasions. Over the years I have noticed a dramatic change in glacier size as they shrink due to lower snow precipitation and warmer temperatures in the summer. It is evident that in my generation majority of mountain glaciers will despair. It was my desire to record this area before it changed forever.

Being fortunate to paint in the Yukon and Alaska for over 20 years I have created a strong spiritual bond to the land. The seasonal changes that blankets this vast territory provides me with never ending inspiration, from stillness of winter to bright colours of the autumn. Even so the Yukon still remains mainly untouched wilderness, the impact of climate change is becoming highly visible and felt.
